Guidance Processes – Part 1
The Word of God: The Servant Leader's Primary Compass
Every servant leader desires to know the will of God. We pray for direction, seek wisdom for difficult decisions, and ask the Lord to reveal the next step. Yet before we look for guidance through circumstances, counsel, opportunities, or the inward prompting of the Holy Spirit, we must first return to the one source of guidance that never changes—the Word of God. The Scriptures are not merely a reference book for ministry; they are the very foundation upon which every servant leader must build his life and leadership. If our lives are not anchored in God's Word, every other form of guidance becomes vulnerable to personal opinion, emotion, and deception.
One of the greatest dangers in leadership is allowing experience to become more authoritative than Scripture. It is possible to have an emotional experience, a persuasive conversation, an exciting opportunity, or even what appears to be an open door and mistakenly assume that God is leading. However, the Lord has never intended His servants to build their lives on impressions alone. Every leading must first pass through the filter of His written Word. The Holy Spirit, who inspired the Scriptures, will never contradict what He has already spoken. God's guidance is always consistent with God's character, and God's character is faithfully revealed through His Word.
Paul reminded Timothy of this timeless truth when he wrote, "All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Notice that the purpose of Scripture is not simply to increase knowledge. It equips the servant of God. Before the leader stands before people, he must first stand under the authority of God's Word. The effectiveness of our ministry will never exceed the depth of our submission to biblical truth.
The psalmist declared, "Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105) God often does not illuminate the entire journey at once. Instead, His Word provides enough light for the next faithful step. Servant leaders frequently want a roadmap for the next five years, while God graciously provides light for today's obedience. Walking by faith means trusting the Lord one step at a time, confident that His Word will continue to guide as we continue to follow.
Joshua was preparing to lead an entire nation after the death of Moses, one of the greatest leadership transitions recorded in Scripture. God did not begin by giving Joshua military strategies or political wisdom. Instead, He pointed him to the Scriptures. "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will achieve success." (Joshua 1:8) Biblical success has always been connected to biblical obedience. The servant leader's greatest strength is not natural ability but a life continually shaped by God's truth.
The writer of Hebrews reminds us why the Word is indispensable to leadership: "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12) The Word does more than reveal God's will; it reveals our motives. It exposes pride before it becomes arrogance, selfish ambition before it becomes manipulation, and hidden compromise before it produces public failure. Wise servant leaders continually invite the Scriptures to examine their hearts before they attempt to examine the lives of others.
Jesus Himself prayed, "Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth." (John 17:17) In a culture where opinions constantly shift and values continually change, the servant leader must remain anchored to absolute truth. Ministry trends may change. Leadership methods may adapt. Cultural challenges may evolve. But the truth of God's Word remains forever settled. Every new opportunity, every prophetic word, every dream, every vision, every piece of advice, and every open door must ultimately bow before the authority of Scripture. If it contradicts God's Word, it is not God's guidance.
As we begin this journey through the Guidance Processes, let us establish this unshakable foundation: the Bible is not one voice among many—it is the final authority by which every other voice is tested. The Holy Spirit delights in leading God's servants, but He always leads in perfect harmony with the Scriptures He inspired. A servant leader who faithfully lives in the Word will recognize the voice of the Shepherd with increasing clarity because he has become familiar with the heart of the Shepherd through His written Word.
Before you ask God for your next assignment, ask Him to deepen your love for His Word.
Before you seek a new direction, seek greater obedience to what He has already revealed. The strongest servant leaders are not those who chase the newest experience but those who faithfully walk according to the timeless truth of Scripture. When God's Word becomes your primary compass, every other guidance process finds its proper place, and your leadership will rest upon a foundation that can never be shaken.

La Palabra De Dios: La Brújula Principal Del Líder Servidor
Todo líder siervo desea conocer la voluntad de Dios. Oramos pidiendo dirección, buscamos sabiduría para tomar decisiones difíciles y le pedimos al Señor que nos revele el siguiente paso. Sin embargo, antes de buscar orientación en las circunstancias, los consejos, las oportunidades o la guía interior del Espíritu Santo, primero debemos volver a la única fuente de dirección que nunca cambia: la Palabra de Dios. Las Escrituras no son simplemente un libro de consulta para el ministerio; son el fundamento mismo sobre el cual todo líder siervo debe edificar su vida y su liderazgo. Si nuestra vida no está anclada en la Palabra de Dios, cualquier otra forma de orientación queda expuesta a la opinión personal, las emociones y el engaño.
Uno de los mayores peligros en el liderazgo es permitir que la experiencia adquiera más autoridad que las Escrituras. Es posible tener una experiencia emotiva, una conversación convincente, una oportunidad emocionante o incluso algo que parezca una puerta abierta y asumir por error que Dios nos está guiando. Sin embargo, el Señor nunca ha querido que sus siervos edifiquen su vida basándose únicamente en impresiones. Toda guía debe pasar primero por el filtro de su Palabra escrita. El Espíritu Santo, quien inspiró las Escrituras, nunca contradirá lo que ya ha dicho. La guía de Dios siempre es coherente con el carácter de Dios, y su carácter se revela fielmente por medio de su Palabra.
Pablo le recordó a Timoteo esta verdad eterna cuando escribió:
El salmista declaró:
Josué se preparaba para guiar a toda una nación tras la muerte de Moisés, una de las transiciones de liderazgo más importantes que se narran en las Escrituras. Dios no comenzó dándole estrategias militares ni sabiduría política. En cambio, lo dirigió a las Escrituras.

Antes de buscar una nueva dirección, procura obedecer más plenamente lo que ya te ha revelado. Los líderes siervos más firmes no son los que persiguen la experiencia más novedosa, sino los que caminan fielmente conforme a la verdad eterna de las Escrituras. Cuando la Palabra de Dios se convierte en tu brújula principal, todo otro proceso de orientación ocupa el lugar que le corresponde, y tu liderazgo descansará sobre un fundamento que jamás podrá ser sacudido.

每一位仆人领袖都渴望明白神的旨意。我们祈求祂指引方向，在面临艰难抉择时寻求智慧，也求主向我们显明下一步该怎么走。然而，在我们通过环境、劝勉、机会或圣灵内在的感动寻求指引之前，必须先回到那永不改变的指引源头——神的话语。圣经不仅是服事的参考书，更是每一位仆人领袖建立生命与领导事工的根基。若我们的生命没有扎根于神的话语，其他一切形式的指引都容易受到个人观点、情绪和欺骗的影响。
领导事工中最大的危险之一，就是让经验变得比圣经更具权威。人可能有一番情绪激动的经历，进行一次令人信服的谈话，遇到一个令人兴奋的机会，甚至看似有一扇敞开的门，却误以为这是神在带领。然而，主从未要祂的仆人单凭印象来建立生命。每一种带领都必须先经过祂所写下的话语的检验。默示圣经的圣灵，绝不会与祂已经说过的话相矛盾。神的指引总与神的品格一致，而神的品格忠实地彰显在祂的话语中。
保罗写信时提醒提摩太这亘古不变的真理：
诗人宣告说：
摩西去世后，约书亚正准备带领整个民族，这是圣经记载中最重大的领导交接之一。神并没有先赐给约书亚军事策略或政治智慧，而是指引他归向圣经。
希伯来书的作者提醒我们，为什么神的话语对领导事工不可或缺：

在寻求新的方向之前，先努力更顺服祂已经启示的真理。最坚固的仆人领袖，不是追逐最新经历的人，而是忠心遵行圣经中永恒真理的人。当神的话语成为你首要的指南针，其他所有寻求指引的方式便各得其所，你的领导事工也将建立在永不动摇的根基之上。
