Breaking Free Community Church
There are moments when the direction of a ministry becomes unmistakably clear. For us, one of those moments came as we watched God draw people—especially Chinese Christians and other Asians, alongside believers from many backgrounds—who are hungry for depth, healing, and authentic discipleship. Across cultures and life experiences, we began to see a shared longing for spiritual formation, healing, and Christ-centered community. It became evident that this was not about creating something new for novelty’s sake, but responding to what the Holy Spirit was already stirring. Launching Breaking Free Community Church was not a strategic experiment; it was an act of obedience.
Breaking Free Community Church exists to worship God by building Christ-centered community through a body of believers who, disciple, equip, and are sent to the lost and the hurting. From the very beginning, our conviction has been simple, yet deeply countercultural: the Church is not built primarily through crowds gathered around a sermon, but through lives walking together in truth, grace, and transformation.
We believe teaching matters deeply—it is essential, biblical, and necessary—but it was never meant to replace the life of the body. Teaching is meant to serve the community, to guide it, unify it, and strengthen it, not become the center that everything revolves around. The early Church did not grow through spectatorship, but through participation—through shared lives, shared burdens, and shared pursuit of Christ (Acts 2:42–47).
In addition to our core gatherings, Breaking Free Community Church actively serves through a variety of ministries throughout the community—reaching into places of addiction, incarceration, homelessness, and underserved populations both locally and beyond. These are not separate from the life of the church; they are an extension of it. We intentionally invite every member of the body to participate in these opportunities, not just as volunteers, but as disciples being formed in real time. It is often in these environments—serving the hurting, stepping into broken places, and walking alongside those in need—that individuals begin to discover the unique purpose God has placed on their lives. As we go, we grow. As we serve, we are shaped. And as we pour out, God reveals purpose, deepens compassion, and forms each person into the servant leader He has created them to be (Isaiah 58:10–12; Ephesians 2:10).
We are not a sermon-centered church with relationships added as an accessory. In our model, relationships are not optional—they are the God-designed environment where real healing happens, where discipleship is formed, and where mission is lived out. Scripture consistently reveals that transformation does not take place in isolation, but in community. Proverbs 27:17 reminds us, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another,” and Hebrews 10:24–25 calls us to “consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.”
Our weekly gathering reflects this conviction. Each week includes a scripture-centered message that is Spirit-led, practical, and unified around a shared biblical theme. The purpose of this message is not to be the main event, but to bring alignment and direction—to help us discern what the Holy Spirit is speaking to us right now and to identify who He is inviting us to share it with. It serves as a launching point, not the destination.
We believe the Church is not something we attend—it is something we are. And when we live this way, we don’t just grow in knowledge—we grow in Christlikeness, in love, and in mission. As Jesus said in John 13:35, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
At Breaking Free Community Church, everything flows from this: Christ at the center, people walking together, and lives being transformed—not just in meetings, but in everyday life.
Mission Statement
We worship God by building Christ-centered community through a body of believers who walk with the hurting, disciple and equip one another, and are sent beyond the four walls to reach the lost and the hurting in our communities and abroad.
Vision Anchor
Breaking Free Community Church is built on Christ-centered community where people experience healing, discipleship, life purpose, and mission.
Who We Are
Breaking Free Community Church is not sermon-centered with relationships added as an accessory. We are built on Christ-centered community.
Relationships are essential—it is the God-designed context where healing happens, discipleship forms, and mission is lived out. The weekly message supports this process by bringing alignment, equipping the body, and helping guide how we live out the truth together.
Seven Core Values
1. Lost and Hurting People Matter to God
Therefore, they matter to us.
God’s heart has always been for those who are broken, forgotten, and far from Him. Jesus consistently moved toward the wounded, the sinner, and the outcast. The Church does not exist for itself, but as a living expression of God’s compassion to a hurting world.
Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
2. Genuine Community Is Essential for Lasting Life Change
Transformation happens in relationships. God never intended people to heal, grow, or follow Christ in isolation. Biblical community is where truth is lived out, burdens are shared, and lives are shaped together.
Hebrews 10:24–25 “And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another”
3. Biblical Truth and Discipleship Are the Catalyst for Transformation
Real change is rooted in truth, not opinion or emotion. As people submit their lives to God’s Word and commit to being discipled, the Holy Spirit renews minds, reshapes hearts, and transforms behavior from the inside out.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work.”
4. Healing and Restoration Are Central to the Gospel and a Healthy Church
The gospel is not only about forgiveness of sin, but the restoration of what sin has broken. Jesus came to heal hearts, restore relationships, and make people whole—spirit, soul, and body.
Psalm 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.”
5. Every Believer Is Called and Equipped to Serve, Especially Leaders
God has placed gifts, purpose, and calling inside every believer. Ministry is not reserved for a few—it is the responsibility and privilege of the whole body of Christ.
1 Peter 4:10 “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the multifaceted grace of God.”
6. Full Devotion to Christ Is Normal for Every Believer
Following Jesus is not part-time, optional, or compartmentalized. Christ calls every believer into a life of surrender, obedience, and wholehearted devotion.
Luke 9:23 “And He was saying to them all, ‘If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.’”
7. We Are Sent to Reach the Lost and the Hurting
The Church does not exist to retreat from the world, but to be sent into it. We are called to go, love, serve, and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ wherever God places us.
Matthew 28:19–20“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Church Family Membership
If you gather with us, walk with us, and live the mission with us—you’re family.
“We don’t do formal membership like most churches. If you’re here, you’re welcome. If you keep coming, you’re part of us. And if you choose to walk this out with us in community, we consider you family. We’re not concerned if you also have another church family—we’re just grateful you’re here.”
