Beyond Time: The Eternal Godhead 2

April 11, 2026

We speak of God as the One who “was, and is, and is to come” (Revelation 1:8) — but that’s only the beginning. The Godhead—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—does not just move through time like we do. They inhabit all of time at once.

They live fully in the past, present, and future—not sequentially, but simultaneously.

They do not remember history, They are present to it.

They do not wait for the future, They dwell within it.

They do not experience the present as we do, moment by moment—they are Lord over all moments, all at once.

“For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night.” — Psalm 90:4

Time is not their boundary—it is their creation.

When Jesus took on flesh, He stepped into time. He walked dusty roads, grew tired, sat with sinners, and was crucified at a point in history. Yet even then, He was before all things, and in Him all things held together.

“He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”  — Colossians 1:17

“Before Abraham was, I AM.” — John 8:58

That “I AM” is not just a theological statement—it is a revelation of His identity beyond time.

● The Father exists in eternal communion, never beginning, never ending. (Psalm 90:2)

● The Son, slain before the foundation of the world, enters time to redeem what He already saw redeemed.

“The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” — Revelation 13:8

● The Spirit moves in every age, breathing life into every believer.

“The Spirit of truth… will guide you into all truth. He will tell you things to come.” — John 16:13

To the Godhead, time is like a canvas stretched out—every stroke seen clearly. Every moment unfolding, yet already known. Every decision free, yet every outcome sovereign. This is not contradiction—this is divinity.

This is why God can call things that are not as though they are.

“God… calls those things which do not exist as though they did.” — Romans 4:17

This is why prophecy is not prediction—it’s memory from eternity.

“Known to God from eternity are all His works.” — Acts 15:18

This is why Jesus could speak about His death and resurrection while He was still living—because He was as present in the future as He was in the moment.

“The Son of Man must suffer… and be killed, and after three days rise again.” — Mark 8:31

And this means something profound for us:

We worship a God who is never late. Never uncertain. Never surprised. Every part of your life—your past mistakes, your present struggles, your future hopes—is already known, already seen, already woven into His plan.

“Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me when as yet there were none of them.” — Psalm 139:16

He doesn’t just look ahead—He stands ahead, calling you forward.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.” — Revelation 22:13

The Godhead is not bound to time—time is bound to them.

Alpha and Omega. Beginning and End.

All at once.

All for us.
